Anxiety Gene

Is there an Anxiety Gene that causes Attacks?

Although there is much discussion about the effects of heredity on a person, there has yet to be a clear connection between someones genes and their predisposition to a given illness.

It's logical given that many things have been found to be connected to ones DNA. Still just because we may have a disposition to a certain problem like anxiety attacks, why do some of us have the problem while others do not?

My thought here is that we're all different and although heredity may be a factor, so is the environment we grew up in. If you had a mother who had anxiety attacks and you watched how she was able to control the family and get things done using her illness, maybe in your sub conscious, this works to encourage anxiety problems in your own life. I'm not saying this is fact just an idea.

Many people have problems that are associated with anxiety and feeling of guilt and remorse. This to is something that can be picked up in childhood and not make a formal appearance until a person is well into adulthood.

Many people can't decide however if they should even try to seek medical attention for anxiety disorder. One of the first things that does drive someone to seek medical care is probably a symptom like gerd. Once the symptom is identified, the task of finding out the cause is much more difficult. Yes, some will simply say that that's the way it is, a good way to just blame your genetic genes while others will search for a more concrete answer.

A good rule of thumb is that if you're having symptoms or feeling of anxiety or depression for over a couple of weeks, it's time to seek out some help. There are a few things that you can try at home to relieve the symptoms of anxiety. There are also a few signs that should point you into the direction of your doctor’s office as well. These techniques include breathing into a paper bag, herbal remedies, and other such ideas that have been surprisingly effective for many sufferers.

If you find that your self help treatments are not working or you're still having difficulty, it's time to check with the doctors. Any thoughts of harming yourself or others is also a sure sign that you need help fast. When it doubt, check it out with a doctor. He will have suggestions on which anxiety treatments will suit you best.

You also want to consider seeking professional help if the symptoms interfere with your ability to function. If you cannot work, or don't want to think, play or do anything involving your normal life functions, it's also a certain sign of problems

Work may also be adversely affected because of the stress and self-consciousness associated with the disorder. You may find yourself distracted and unable to complete tasks. This is a tell-tale sign that you should seek help from a doctor who can suggest anxiety treatments for you to consider.

Anxiety and depression can go hand in hand when having problems. If you're feeling depressed and a decided lack of interest in life, it's time to consult your physician about possible anxiety treatments in addition to depression treatments.

Some physical ailments like gerd can also accompany stress-related disorders. You should talk to your doctor if you feel chest pains, stomach acid problems, heart palpations, shortness of breath or anything out of the ordinary. Panic attacks can cause all or none of these things so you can't be to careful. Some complain of dizziness, weakness, sweaty hands, overwhelming sense of fear also. Any of these symptoms should not be taken lightly.

The anxiety treatments are directly related to the cause. Sometime there is a physical cause behind the symptoms that needs to be addressed. At other times, anxiety is treated through therapy and counseling or medications. Many people have successfully helped treat their own symptoms through natural herbal remedies along with the physicians recommendations.

Overall, there is no one cure for everyone. While anxiety can be serious it is also highly treatable and the physical symptoms will usually drop in frequency and intensity over time with that treatment.
