General Anxiety Disorder is much more non specific than some of the other phobias. A generalized anxiety phobia is identified as an excessive and uncontrollable worry or worries about everyday events, situations or life in general. This is the classic worry-wart syndrome. Severe cases of this disorder can take people into such a state as to be literally unable to function.



People suffering with this phobic disorder will worry about almost anything. Jobs, family, finances, health, loved ones, the lack of loved ones, no job, etc. They will work through an issue to the point where there is no good alternative to a situation that doesn't deserve to be worried about. In addition, people who suffer from such a disorder may also worry about deadlines, meeting, work schedules, housecleaning, organization or anything else that may touch tier lives.

It can be so difficult for the person with general anxiety that they are unable to make even the smallest decision in their lives. The situation can be even more desperate for the people and loved ones in the phobics live. Understand that due to the excessive worry about literally everything, the phobics live is continually filled with anxiousness and remorse.

Generalized anxiety disorders are identified when a person has excessive anxiety and worries about a number of activities and events that lasts several months. The person may also find it difficult to control his feelings of worrying and making a decision becomes increasingly more difficult. Irritableness, tension of the muscles, disturbed sleep as well as excessive sweating, along with nondescript fidgeting and picking at ones own body are also indicators of this disorder.

When a person feels that he may have a generalized anxiety disorder he or she may show additional physical symptoms such as clinically important distraught states or impairment of social, occupational and other areas of functioning.

Women tend to be at a higher risk.

It is believed that anywhere from 3 to 7 percent of the U.S. population have had experience or bouts with anxiety disorders. These include not only general anxiety but also social anxiety and tramatic stress syndrome. Millions of Americans have had or continue to struggle with the effects of general anxiety. The mood swings and other aspects of this phobic should not be minimized. Anxiety may even be a subset of depression when it comes to common treatment ideas.

Such disorders strike in early childhood or during adolescent years and are also found in adulthood as well. They are more prevalent amongst women than men and it is estimated that as many as 75 per cent of individuals suffering from this condition are female.

Research into generalized anxiety disorders suggest that it may be hereditary and may worsen when a person is under stress. These disorders can occur at an early age and their symptoms begin to show as a person ages. Without treatment or efforts to control this disorder, it can be come quite complex and chronic.

The best way to treat it is to take medication and get involved with group therapy. It's critical to realize that there are many treatments including pharmacological and psychological that can help with this disorder. You simply need to find one that works for you.
