A List of Depression Signs and Symptoms for Loved Ones
Mental illness is some of the most difficult diseases to diagnose accurately. The reason is that many times, there can be multiple causes and most of us are subject at one time or another to at least some of the symptons. Still, there's no denying that there are people who have greatly benefited from treatment of depression and anxiety disorders.
To those that are interested in better understanding depression signs and symptoms, here are the most common in no particulat order. Please remember that although you or someone you know may have one or more of these symptoms, it's critical to obtain an accurate diagnosis from a trained professional.
These symptoms are just that...symptoms. They can indicated the onset of mental conditions like depression and/or anxiety or can also just be your way of dealing with life events and situation.
Depression Symptoms
Exhaustion when getting out of bed after a full nights sleep
No Energy. It seems to be a chore just to exist
Poor sleeping. Awaking in the middle of the night and not being about to go back to sleep
Lack of Concentration
Feeling of Anxiousness or emotional upheavel
Shortness of temper, or irritability
Preferring to be alone
Unable to think clearly
Feelings of inadequacy. Being a failure, living a worthless life.
Loss of Hope. you just "KNOW" things will NOT be better tomorrow
You feel you have no confidence.
Non specific physical ailments. aches and pains show up without reason.
Remember that just because you may have one or more of these symptoms, it doesn't mean that you are suffering from depression. It's perfectly natural for all of us, at one time or another to have some or all of these symptoms. Major depressive disorder types of illnesses are complex to diagnose and difficult to treat.
It's important however that if you have noticed any or all of these symptoms that have lasted for more than two weeks to make an appointment with your medical doctor. Depression and anxiety are corrosive to your life and if left untreated will continue to worsen
